Favorite Weddings Gowns from MissesDressy (Fashion Blog Post)

Wedding season is awesome.

After watching Disney's Cinderella for the umpteenth time with my daughter Jo, I've decided that we are both true romantics at heart. Perhaps that's why I love wedding season, and gush over every bride who walks by?

MissesDressy - a treat!

You all know that MissesDressy is sponsoring Girlie Blog Seattle in 2013, and I couldn't be prouder. I like MissesDressy's selection of gowns, dresses, and formal wear, because every single piece looks glamorous and glitzy, yet classy at the same time. And browsing MissesDressy's online store has been a real treat.

Because it's almost wedding season -- and because I'm a true romantic -- today's Fashion Blog Post will showcase my favorite wedding gowns from MissesDressy store.

Enjoy!

How to Save Money Shopping Online (Fashion Blog Post)

I like to shop.

Offline, online, doesn't matter. I can shop anytime, anywhere. However, when I became a stay-at-home mom, I had to deal with a tight budget that completely broke my shopping habit.

Yeah. Right.

I still shop; I just do it frugally now. Frugal is savvy, ya know :O)

First of all, why shop online?

Because it saves time.

No penetrating through traffic, or running in and out of stores; just plain consumer fun in the comfort of your own living room.

But you still gotta be frugal. An online bill racks up as fast as a physical one.

Before breaking bank (again), check out these tips on how to save money shopping online:

How to Make Post-Pregnancy Transitional Clothes Last (Fashion Blog Post)

What is post-pregnancy transitional clothes?

Post-pregnancy transitional clothes are clothing items that fit your body while your body transitions from being pregnant to not pregnant.

They are helpful because after pregnancy, most women take months to return to normal. They need garments that fit their changing bodies, because while their pregnancy clothes are too big, their pre-pregnancy clothes are too snug.

Wish List - Necklace Edition (Fashion Blog Post)

I'm not an accessories person, but since I started writing fashion blog posts, I've paid more attention to accessories and jewelries.

Most people think that accessories are used to complement an outfit, but in reality, they do much more than that. Sometimes, an accessory can make or break an outfit. In fact, I've even styled an entire outfit around a single piece of jewelry, or a pair of shoes.

My favorite accessory right now? While I adore bracelets -- they'll always be my first choice for accessories -- I feel a bit head over heels over pretty necklaces.

Today, I'd like to share a wish list of the necklaces I'm smitten over right now.

1. 14K Gold Treble Clef Music Note Pendant

This necklace is pretty and delicate. While the musical note pendant gives it character, its rose gold color looks fashionable and lovely. I can see myself wearing it everyday, even on play dates.

After a week filled with activities, I plan to relax and do some shopping while my husband takes the kids out.

Speaking of shopping, Father's Day is fast approaching, and I'm searching for a new wedding ring to replace my husband's old one. We didn't have much to spend on our wedding, and I bought him an inexpensive ring that fell apart easily.

My husband deserves better.

Best Night Creams - Elizabeth Arden Millenium and Borghese Dolce Notte (Skin Care Blog Post)

Why use night cream?

I was a cocky teen with perfect skin who thought of night cream as superfluous luxury. Then came my 30's and a problem called dry skin -- so dry that it looked ashy, pasty and borderline offensive.

Am I being punished for being cocky?

Why use night cream? Because your body spends the night replenishing and re-energizing itself. Your skin works at maximum capacity at night, and does a better job absorbing the essential vitamins and minerals provided by night cream.

Also, you perspire at night, and cannot hydrate yourself during sleep. This causes skin to lose moisture. Using a night cream before bed seals in moisture, and protects skin.

Prom Suits for Boys - Style That Girls Like (Fashion Blog Post)

Miss Insignificant

Were you popular in high school?

I wasn't.

I wasn't unpopular either. I was just...sort of...there.

While being insignificant had benefits -- too invisible to be bullied and beaten up -- I was invisible to boys too. Come prom season, when all my girlfriends received invitations, I had no date at all.

I felt so bummed that even the popular, snooty girls started consoling me.

Friends make the best prom dates.

Jason* to the rescue!

Two days before the event, a guy from math class asked me out. We were one of the few "friends-only" couples at prom, but had the funnest time.

Without any romantic interest at all, there wasn't pressure to look good, or behave a certain way.

However...

Jason* looked very handsome in his suit, and I felt proud to be his date.

We even ended the night with a kiss -- a very very very quick, unromantic, friendly peck.

Hey! He wore a suit; I wore a dress; it was the right thing to do.

Prom suits for boys - style that girls like:

Boys: whether you go to prom with a friend or a love interest, dressing in style is important.

Trust me! Girls notice.

1. Monotone

If you aren't savvy with matching colors, then go for a suit that's monotone from head to toe. A gray one like the picture below looks sleek and sexy.

Ross Clothing Store - Good Practices for Shopping at Ross (Fashion Blog Post)

A Trip to Ross Clothing Store - Happy Mother's Day to Me!

I wrote an article for a local newspaper once, and interviewed a young lady about her opinions of stay-at-home moms.

Not knowing that I was a stay-at-home mom myself, and that I wrote as a freelancer, she answered my question in complete frankness. I don't remember her exact response, but she used words along the lines of "unambitious" and "lazy."

Ouch!

No matter what people claim, the "desperate housewives" stigma does exist.

If you ask any of the stay-at-home moms I hang out with, she'll tell you that she does back-breaking work, often gets looked down upon, but have never regretted one minute of choosing to stay home with her child.

I'm not here to rally; I'm not here to compare stay-at-home moms with working moms; I'm here to ask you all to put yourselves in other people's shoes before you judge.

Also, I'd like to say, "Happy Mother's Day!"

To all the hard-working moms out there: go treat yourselves!

For me, I treated myself to a trip to Ross Clothing Store.

Best Makeover I've Ever Had

Oh yes! I've had makeovers.

Quite a few of them, actually.

C'mon! I own a beauty blog.

However, no makeover was as significant as today's.

"Not too much, Jo." "Okay, mom." ... And then it's all over my face.

Putting makeup on.

Luckily, the toddler used water-soluble paint.

Unfortunately, she used a strong hand, and a lot of dark colors.

Oh goodness. She's so hands on.

Sorry! Short post.

Due to extended sunshine, I have been too busy playing outside, and therefore neglecting my blog. But hey, I live in Seattle and we don't usually get this much sun in spring.

All done.

Happy Hump Day!

Have you ever had a makeover like mine?

**Note: in an effort to protect children's privacy -- and as a promise to my husband -- there will not be pictures of my daughter on this blog.

Weekend Recommend - Best from Blair Clothing (Fashion Blog Post)

Happy Friday!

What are your plans this weekend?

Last week, Seattle was blessed with sunshine. According to forecast, the weekend will be sunny still.

My husband and I suddenly grew a pair of green thumb, and plan to plant vegetables on the patch of soil that surrounds our home.

Certainly you have more exciting plans than gardening, but in case you get a chance to surf the web, Blair Clothing might spark your interest.

About Blair Clothing

In the early 1900's, John L. Blair, the son of an Irish immigrant, sold raincoats for a job. When he realized that instead of just raincoats, what people needed were waterproof wool coats, Blair sewed raincoats and wool together, and created a warm yet waterproof winter coat. The invention became an instant hit among fellow Pennsylvanians who dreaded harsh Northeastern winters.

With just $500, Blair then started a "new process" company that always gave consumers what they're looking for.

Best from Blair Clothing

100 years later, Blair Clothing expanded from outerwear to a full range of women's and men's clothing, home decor, and even jewelry.

I encourage you to browse Blair Clothing's website to see all that it offers. Personally, I have taken a liking to the following items:

1. Flutter Blouse

Have you heard of a flutter blouse? I've never until now. But isn't it pretty? Love the neckline.

Dressing Tips for Women Going on a First Date (Fashion Blog Post)

Many moons ago, my husband asked me out for the first time.

(We are one of those old farts who have been together for entirely too long.)

Since our first date, we've had plenty of others. Remembering each of them in detail requires heavy excavation. But our first date, I'll always remember clearly. I guess a life-altering event like that is easy to hold on to. Because this is a fashion blog post, let's focus on what I wore.

So, what did I wear?

Something comfortable: khakis pants, knitted sweater, and a pair of walking boots.

The outfit wasn't fancy, but it worked. And I honestly believe that because I wore comfortable clothing, I felt more like myself, and that's why my first date with my husband was successful.

You do not need dressing tips for going on a first date.

In fact, you probably don't need dressing tips at all. But just in case...
