Life is Beautiful

We've out-of-town guests, and I've been too busy to blog. But I've two stolen seconds now, so please allow me to share a beautiful moment from last week.

My husband and our first-born on Alki Beach, in West Seattle.

Thank you.

Have a lovely weekend!

Weekend Recommend - Clothing Gift Ideas for Men (Fashion Blog Post)

For the sporty guy:

Oakley Men's Fives Squared Sunglasses

Love Oakley's. They're sporty, fitting, and last a long time. My last birthday present for my husband were Oakley glasses, and he loved them.

The Oakley sunglasses I picked out today are sexy, luxurious and curved to fit. If your guy's active and spends a lot of time playing outside, he'll like these.

For the enviro-lover:

Sandqvist Stig Bag

Chances are your man prefers public transportation than any other way of getting around.

For a guy devoted to saving the environment, I've picked out the coolest backpack for him to travel around town with. The Sandqvist Stig Backpack is not only useful, it looks good too. In a classic blue-grey color block, this bag is made with sturdy canvas material, and padded at the bottom for protection. It fits many things, including a 13" laptop, and is extremely comfortable. A perfect combo of comfort and style.

The bag is from an up-and-coming European clothing store called Liquor Store Clothing, and can be found here

For the hipster:

Hipster Newsboy Cap

Hipsters have a unique fashion sense, often identified by tight clothing and stylish hats.

The newsboy cap below is classic yet fresh. If your guy is a typical hipster, he'll love it.

For the career guy:

Quilted Wool Coat

Now that fall's nearing, outerwear is everywhere. If your man is a career-oriented person, who dresses up at work, then a professional-looking coat may be a good choice.

The quilted wool coat below, also from Liquor Store Clothing, is both stylish and warm. It has down fill for warmth, wool exterior for protection, and quilted pattern for fashion. Personally, I feel it's a great coat to wear over suits.

For the health nut:

15-Piece Compact Portable Blending/Chopping System

I know health nuts. I married one. And he is avid about taking protein. If your guy is a health nut like my husband, then he probably loves making protein shakes, and needs a good system.

The Cuisinart SmartPower Portable Blending System has 15 pieces that you can mix and match. It has a powerful 350-watt motor, stainless steel front panel, and contains a 32-ounce, 8-ounce, 16-ounce and "to-go" cups that are BPA-free.

Now, your guy can get his protein, and take it with a delicious shake too.

Hope you saw good recommendations.

Have a great weekend!

And please remember that this fashion blog post was sponsored by Liquor Store Clothing. It's a wonderful store that offers unique, European-style men's fashion. I think you will like their stuff.

Fun with the Girls (Life in Seattle)

Since weekends are usually slow for beauty and fashion blogs, I don't feel so guilty posting boring bits of my day.

I'm a stay-at-home mom to a 3-year old and a 10-months old, by the way. My days are not that exciting :O)

1. Stringing Presents for Guests

Our family from N.J will be in town tomorrow. We decided to make them something special.

(Should've cleaned instead. Oops.)

This is for Jo's big cousin. It's her first visit to Seattle.

Grandma M will be happy to see this.

All done. Pretty cute, huh?

2. Window Shopping for Fall

Not sure which fall style to invest in? Try checking out trends that are hanging up, before putting money down.

3. Creating Clean Meals

This egg-wrapped turkey and asparagus sandwich is completely clean, and tasted delicious too.

Hey, the toddler liked it. That's something, right?

Have a nice weekend!

Cheap Thrills

1. Physician's Formula makeup

They're beautiful, long-lasting and cost less than $15 at the local drug store.

2. 5-dollar bracelets.

Loving the colors - and how they clink when I move my arm.

3. Turning A into B.

Not gonna get points for structural integrity or aesthetics, but this Art-chitecture was 30 minutes of undisturbed fun with the toddler.

4. Two for the price of one.

Two of my favorite mascara for one reasonable price - now that's thrilling.

5. Best lotion ever!

This Eucerin moisturizer lathered on evenly, and softened skin instantly.

Excellent formula. $10 at the most. I highly recommend.

6. Affordable hair care.

I've used Pantene for years. It leaves hair smooth and shiny. I like the new plant-based formula, because it's healthier and still works well.

If you haven't, please give them a try.

7. Olive oil as makeup remover.

It's a bit greasy, but does an excellent job with removing makeup.

Mascara too.

8. This week's Time.

A few pages of pretty good writing: $4.99.

Feeling 0.0000001% smarter, or worldlier, or something like that: priceless.

(Seriously though, the Bee article was pretty interesting.)

 That's all for me.

How about you?

Any cheap thrills lately?

Weekend Wishlist - Pink Things (Beauty and Fashion Blog Post)

1. Rotating Standing iPad 2 Case

I absolutely A-D-O-R-E this color. Plus, it has a 360-degree rotating stand. It's pretty - and pretty smart too.

2. Running Gear

Who says you can't run in style?

I have these running shoes in a different color, and I LOVE them. They are extremely comfortable, and feel like running on air.

I chose the Asics running jacket because it looks sleek and form-fitting. When I run, I want to be as aerodynamic as possible, without any loose particles. Looks like this jacket fits the bill.

A young snowboarder introduced me to Skull Candy earphones as "the best earphones ever!" He was so right. These earphones always stay put, and are completely sound-proof.

Nike Lady Free Run+ V3 Running Shoes
Asics Women's Quinn Jacket
Skullcandy INK'D Ear Buds with In-Line Microphone and Control Switch S2INDY-134 (Pink/Black)

3. Clutch, in the shape of a radio

I like it because it's something Andy Warhol would draw. A conversation piece indeed.

Kate Spade New York Radio Samira Clutch

I think that's all I'm wishing for now.

Hope you're having a nice weekend.

By the way, I still haven't started cleaning :O)

How to Dress Up a Maxi by Propinquity (Fashion Blog Post)

fashion blog

fashion blog

Propinquity - what a pretentious word for a (peasant-ish) fashion blog!

I thought so too. At first.

Then I realized the true meaning of "propinquity," after mispronouncing it "pro-pin-city" of course, and how it extends outside of social psychology, and into every type of relationship life has to offer.

The universe, in fact, abides by propinquity.

I know what you're thinking: Oh great! Not only is she pretentious, she's effing philosophical too. But please hear me out! Without commonalities, a relationship between people or things or even garments simply don't work.

Propinquity - a brief thought.

If you google the word, you'll find a lot of writing about propinquity. Some of them are too deep for a fun night of fashion-blogging, so briefly, propinquity refers to the physical or psychological proximity between people (kinship), or a similarity between things (like-attracts-like).

Weekend Recommend - Oblivion

Finally! A Tom Cruise movie that doesn't make me vomit.

Oblivion was pretty good. Excellent even. If only Tom Cruise wasn't in it. (Sorry. It's not Tom Cruise, it's the roles he picks. He needs to give up the action hero thing. And stop taking off his shirt!)

Anyway, of all the crap out there, Oblivion was an entertaining choice. I approve.

First Rain (Fashion Blog Post)

Rain in Seattle...

may not be as much of an oxymoron as a well-versed illiterate or vegan carnivore, its premature debut in early August still surprised most Seattlietes. We're used to summers' endless sunshine now, going outside as much as possible, and tricking ourselves to believe that rain in Seattle was just a rumor, or even an oxymoron.

Rain will NEVER come. Just look at the beautiful sunshine.

Then, the sky showered us...

What I Am Loving Right Now - Rings of 2013 (Fashion Blog Post)

This is a sponsored post for White Flash Jewelry.

1. Coiled Snake Ring

Raunchy or sexy?

You decide. Whichever way you sway, a coiled snake arouses the sexual senses. Wherever imagination takes you, you've no better way to make a statement than a cunning reptile, adorned in brilliant crystals, slithering up your finger.

I like it 'cause it's sexy.

2. Wearing Your Heart on Your Sleeve Finger

A woman looks most beautiful when she's in love. Unafraid and unjaded, she wears her heart for the world to see.

Could she be you?

Dogeared Charmed Gold Dipped Large Heart Ring
I like this ring because everyone loves being in love.

3. The Lovely Skull

Fear not the skull, for it was embellished to shame gems and stones. It's not for the faint of heart, but rather a bold individual who pushes the envelope.

I like this ring because it's bad to the bone.

 4. The Black Pearl

The black pearl may have a somber persona, but is beautiful still. Its surface -- smooth, flawless and shiny -- offers the same elegance its lighter counterparts would.

PearlsOnly Chantel Black 9.0-9.5mm AA Freshwater Sterling Silver With Rhodium Plated Cultured Pearl Ring
I like this ring because it's dark and mysterious.

5. Scattered Diamonds

10 perfectly-placed diamonds, one unique look. One of the prettiest weddings bands I've ever seen.

"Scattered" Diamond Wedding Ring by Benchmark rings
I like this ring because it's different from other wedding bands I've seen.
